A Day at Our Surf Camp in Mirleft, Morocco | Tawja Surf Morocco

At Tawja Surf Morocco, every day revolves around one thing: chasing the best waves of the day along the stunning Atlantic coastline of Mirleft, Morocco.

Early Start – Chasing the First Waves

Early Bird Spot Check
Early Bird Spot Check

We often begin our day with the first light of sunrise. True to the motto “the early bird catches the waves,” we load up the surfboards, hop in the car, and head out in search of the perfect surf conditions.

Depending on the swell, our surf sessions can take us anywhere along this magical stretch of coastline — from Mirleft, north towards Aglou, or south down to Sidi Ifni. The ocean decides, and we follow.

Before hitting the water, we sometimes stop at a local bakery. Warm, freshly baked pain au chocolat, still steaming from the oven, enjoyed with a view of the waves — the perfect start to any surf day in Morocco.

Morning Surf Session & Surf Breakfast by the Beach

After the first surf session, if the tide allows, we love nothing more than heading straight into a second session after breakfast by the beach.

Hot Moroccan tea warms us up while a balanced surf breakfast restores energy and focus for the day ahead.

Our favorite recommendation? The ultimate surfer breakfast sandwich:Fresh baguette, cream cheese, boiled eggs, avocado, a pinch of salt, cumin, and a drizzle of olive oil. Add a yogurt and a banana on the side — and suddenly paddling out feels effortless again.

Fresh Fish Lunch in Mirleft or Sidi Ifni

After around four hours in the water, a proper lunch is essential.

We often head to the local fish markets in Mirleft or Sidi Ifni, where fresh catches go straight from the ocean onto your plate. Grilled fish served with bread, spicy harissa, fries, and fresh salad — simple, local, and incredibly satisfying.

Relaxed Afternoons in Mirleft

The afternoon is yours to slow down and recharge.

You can relax on our sunny terrace, walk just three minutes to the beach, or explore the charming town of Mirleft. Small shops offer handmade carpets, pottery, natural soaps, and local clothing — perfect for discovering authentic Moroccan craftsmanship.

Or you can unwind in one of the cozy cafés with a traditional Moroccan mint tea and msemen — the famous Moroccan pancakes. If you haven’t tried them yet, you’re definitely missing out.

Sunset at the Old Ruins Over Mirleft

In the evening, we head together to the old ruins overlooking Mirleft.

From here, you can see all the beaches and bays stretching from Tamhroucht to Imin Tourga, as well as the local skatepark and mosques. You can hear the town come alive with children playing and daily life unfolding below.

As the sun sets, Mirleft lights up — calm, warm, and full of life at the same time.

Traditional Moroccan Dinner & Surf Camp Community

Back at Tawja Surf Home, we gather for a shared Moroccan dinner. Depending on the day, it might be a flavorful kefta tagine or a traditional couscous dish — always homemade, always authentic.

Twice a week, we review surf photos together, analyze technique, and set new goals for your surfing progress. It’s all about improving, learning, and enjoying the journey.

And when it’s not about surfing, it’s about community — board games, conversations, laughter, and shared experiences fill the house.

Eventually, the day winds down. Because tomorrow might just start again with the first light… and the next perfect wave waiting in Mirleft, Morocco.
